Carrie let us know in her contest essay that she could boil Success Rice. But aside from that and some frozen options, she was declared “cooking deficient” by family and friends. People always suggested she bring the wine to parties. Carrie wanted an intervention to create her own signature dishes for parties and “just so I can put a nice dinner down on the table a few times a week for my wonderful husband.”
During the intervention, Aviva started by checking out how Carrie’s food and utensils were organized around the kitchen. Then they discussed menu planning. In the past, Carrie would plan to cook at least twice a week but would always stress out over her ingredients and recipes. Cooking just wasn’t any fun.
Carrie and Aviva made three recipes: New Mexican Rice Salad, Spinach and Rice Lasagna and a Creamy Herbed Chicken and Rice Milano. Of course, each dish was just a little bit easier and tastier because the ladies used Success Rice in all three.
Aviva stressed the importance of menu planning. By sitting down with a few cookbooks, picking out a few recipes and writing out a list, Carrie will be confident and relaxed in the kitchen. That way, she can turn on some music, grab a glass of wine and really enjoy making a great meal. Menu planning will also help Carrie avoid wasting leftover ingredients.
In the end, Aviva and Carrie prepared a potential signature dish for parties and some easy meals for weekday dinners with her husband. As an added challenge, Aviva also showed Carrie how to make her very own tortilla chips to make a splash at parties.
After the intervention, Carrie sent a thank-you letter raving about what she learned: “I’ve already made the lasagna twice and Eric loves it!
